Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2025
These terms govern your use of mobile applications (“Apps”) developed and published by Clicking Nook LLC (“Clicking Nook,” “we,” “us”). By downloading or using any of our Apps, you agree to these terms.
Plain language version: use our apps normally, don’t break things on purpose, and we’ll do our best to keep everything running smoothly.
Using Our Apps
You may use our Apps for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these terms. You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
- Use the Apps to violate any laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users’ data
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from our Apps
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Apps or any content within them
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. We’ll try to warn you first unless the violation is severe.
Accounts
Some Apps require an account. You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, contact us immediately at support@clickingnook.com.
Subscriptions & Payments
Some Apps offer premium features through paid subscriptions. Here’s how that works:
- Payment processing: All payments are handled by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via the Play Store). We never see your payment details.
- Recurring billing: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- How to cancel: Cancel through your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. We can’t cancel on your behalf — the app stores manage this directly.
- Free trials: If a subscription includes a free trial, you won’t be charged until the trial ends. Cancel before the trial expires to avoid being charged.
Refunds
Because payments go through Apple or Google, refund requests need to go through them too:
- Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Google: Google Play refund support
If you’re having trouble getting a refund for a legitimate issue, reach out to us and we’ll do what we can to help.
Your Content
Some Apps let you create, store, or input content (recipes, item lists, notes, etc.). That content is yours. We don’t claim ownership of anything you create.
By using our Apps, you give us permission to store and process your content as needed to provide the service — for example, syncing your data across devices or generating search results from your saved items.
Intellectual Property
The Apps themselves — including the code, design, branding, and any original content — are owned by Clicking Nook LLC and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Apps on your personal devices. This license doesn’t give you any ownership rights in the Apps.
Availability & Changes
We aim to keep our Apps available and working, but we can’t guarantee 100% uptime. Things break sometimes. We may also:
- Update Apps to fix bugs, add features, or improve performance
- Change or discontinue features with reasonable notice
- Temporarily suspend service for maintenance
If we ever decide to shut down an App entirely, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice and provide a way to export your data.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Our Apps are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do our best to make them reliable and useful, but we don’t make guarantees about:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- The accuracy of any content processed by our Apps (e.g., recipe extraction results)
- Compatibility with every device or operating system version
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clicking Nook LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our Apps. Our total liability for any claim related to our Apps is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or $50, whichever is greater).
In plain terms: if our recipe app misformats a recipe and your soufflé falls, that’s on the soufflé.
Indemnification
You agree to hold Clicking Nook LLC harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these terms or misuse of our Apps.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as needed. When we make significant changes, we’ll notify you through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of California.
